About the role:

This role will be based in the Seymour region of Victoria working with our delightful clients within our Supported Independent Living homes who have complex care needs. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to work and provide the services for a leading registered service provider.

Responsibilities and Duties:  

  • Assist client in undertaking a range of activities of daily living including- medication reminders, personal & self-care, domestic duties, cleaning, food preparation & mealtime assistance, dressing & maintenance of personal hygiene and community access
  • Assist client with peg feeding and hoisting
  • Understand and communicate with non-verbal clients
  • Follow established practices, procedures, care plans and care directions
  • Fill progress notes and other relevant care documents for each care and support provision
  • Undertake in-person, online, and other training as directed
  • Always ensure you follow compliance requirements as per guidance, regularly checking that you follow best work practices and documentation
  • Maintain the highest level of professional integrity and ensure the privacy and confidentiality of client information
  • Ensure all support work practice is at the highest quality standard
  • Any other duties as directed from time to time.

Essential Criteria – 

Personal Traits and Skills: 

  • Empathetic – possess a real passion for caring for our participants
  • Understanding of non-verbal communication types
  • Energetic and physical fitness to perform manual handling duties to assist clients
  • Work cohesively with others
  • Trained in administering medication and peg feeding
  • Hoisting experience
  • Personal care, including showering and toileting
  • Demonstrated time-management skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Must have experience working in challenging environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of following stipulated procedures

Experience: 

  • Must have at least one 1 year of full-time work experience undertaken in Australia in any of the following areas: Health/Aged Care/Disability Services (Required).
  • Nursing experience is highly desired.

Qualifications: 

  • A Certificate III or IV in one of the following (or equivalent): Individual Support/ Aged Care/ Disability/ Nursing. 

Licence/Certifications: 

  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate or the ability to obtain one (Preferred)
  • Satisfactory Working with Children’s Check (Employee) or the ability to obtain one (Preferred)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check ID or the ability to obtain one (Required)
  • Current Driver’s License, your own car and comprehensive/third party insurance (Preferred)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (Preferred)
  • Qualification in Health/Aged Care/Disability Services (Preferred)
  • Proof of Full COVID Vaccination certificate (Required)
  • COVID 19 Infection Control training High attention to detail to produce a high-quality standard of work (Preferred)
